Procesión de Jesús Nazareno y Ntra. Sra. de Los Dolores

After visiting the castle this morning, we stayed in the Plaza de la Iglesia to await the return of the procession that had left the Church at six this morning.

We sat down with the growing crowd in lovely sunshine with a slight breeze awaiting the arrival.

At just gone 1.15 pm, the hooded Nazarenos accompanying the procession appeared, followed shortly after by the paso (platform), carried by seventy two men, depicting Jesus of Nazareth carrying the cross.

After carrying the paso around Olvera for over seven hours, the strain was clearly showing on the faces of the "Cargadores", the men carrying the paso.

This was the first of two bands in the procession.

It had clearly also been a long day for this young lady.

The second paso of the procession, again carried by seventy two men, depicted the "Nuestra Senora de Los Dolores" (Our Lady of Sorrows).

The second of the two bands in the procession were from Huelva.

We adjourned after this to Bar Pepe Rayas and from there watched the final proceedings of the event from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
