Grazalema

With my sister Ange visiting, we took the opportunity to visit the pretty mountain village of Grazalema, approximately 45kms south of Olvera.
Driving from Zahara, the road winds its way up and through the mountains, around numerous hairpin bends, culminating in a Mirador (View point) at just over 1300 metres, before descending down into Grazalema.
These couple of pics taken from the mirador show the straighter stretches of the road

The village is set in stunning scenery with mountains all around.

We drove down and parked, walking the short distance to the Plaza de España in the centre of the village.

We passed this tiled wall plaque describing the colourful history of the village.

The Plaza de España, which being a public holiday here in Spain was very busy.

We headed through the square to what I would call the "tourist centre" of the village, just off the Calle de Agua, that contains a variety of shops and several bars and restaurants, where we sat down for a beer and tapas, enjoying the sunshine.

Many of the houses in the village have pots and plants as window and balcony decorations. This lovely cyclamen adorned one house.

Many more cafe's and bars were set around the Plaza de España.

At one end of the square is the 18th century church of La Aurora.

Blossom on the tree's.
There is so much more to see in Grazalema and we did not do it justice on this visit, so all the more reason to return again.
