Views of Olvera,.......

.......several in fact, taken on the road between Olvera and Pruna.

The forecast yesterday was for more rain and thunder but today it looks like it will remain sunny and fairly warm with some passing clouds.

A wall of rain......

......accompanied by thunder and lightning passed through this afternoon and may well not be finished with us yet as it's still rumbling overhead as I write this post.

Hopefully not speaking too soon, it wasn't as severe as predicted with most of the rain appearing to head for the mountains of the Sierra de Grazalema to the south.

Still, saves washing the roof terrace and at least the streets are a little cleaner now.

Under gathering clouds.....

....and the watchful eyes of the remaining three members of the Calcetines fan club, a few pictures this evening of the setting sun.

Stormy weather warning

A severe weather warning has been issued by the Government weather agency AEMET , see article here, to expect heavy rain and thunder storms throughout Andalucia tomorrow and Friday.
So, on a warm and quite humid day, a stroll up to the oldest part of town, the "Barrio de la Villa",  to take a few pictures before the expected storms hit.

Just playing around with the "fish eye" option on my new camera....must say, not too impressed!

Just visible, a flock of vultures passing overhead.

Figs, ripe and ready to burst.
"El Tren", used for ferrying people to and from the Feria ground.
The Café Bar "El Tapir Despistado" now has new signage and is receiving great reviews on Tripadvisor here. Closed at the moment though, as many bars in town are, for the duration of the Feria.

Looking east and below another "fish eye" of the umbrellas of Bar Pepe Rayas in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

"La Cilla", the old courtyard inside the castle walls, regularly used for concerts and other events.

The view west from "La Cilla".

First night of the Fair

Tonight was the official first night of the annual "Feria de San Agustin". We walked up to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to watch the preparations for the parade that would process through town to the opening ceremony at the Feria ground.
The excellent Band of Olvera led performers of the "Circo Trópico" along Calle Llana.

A meeting of friends.
The illuminated gateway to the Feria ground.
We wandered for a while, passing by the many "casetas", marquee's that are mostly private but some public, where family and friends gather together to enjoy the music, entertainment and food and drink that contributes to the atmosphere of the fair.

Oh no, not another jewellery stall!!.
