Feria del Ganado 2012

The "Feria del Ganado" (Livestock Fair) has been held in Olvera since 1935 so today, on the second of the four day event, we went to the Recinto Ferial to have a look.
The Pabellón del Recinto Ferial (Fairground Pavilion).

This year in addition to livestock, horse shows and associated activities, the "Ayuntamiento de Olvera" have extended the activities over the weekend to include flamenco performances, fashion shows and a craft market, aiming to promote the event as a major tourist attraction.

Our friend Antonio, top camera man with Olvera TV, was on hand to capture the official opening ceremony of the event.

Inside the Pabellón, a host of stalls were displaying and selling food, drink and other products, aimed at promoting the culture and traditions of Olvera and Andalucia.

Lots of delicious samples on offer.

The impressive display of the "Agricultural Cooperative of Olvera" that, amongst many other activities and products, produces the best olive oil in the world.
 Anne in jewellery heaven....again!!

The highly skilled display of pouring traditional Manzanilla, a variety of sherry, from a great height into a very small glass.

We were pleased to meet José Luis del Río Cabrera, Deputy Mayor of Olvera on the left who performed the opening ceremony and José Holgado Ramírez (Pepe), another member of the Town Council. Jose Luis was kind enough to send us a recent email complimenting us upon our blog.
The stall of Bodega Ambrosio, a local wine producer.

After looking at the array of stalls, we sat for a while with a beer or two enjoying the atmosphere.
  Escape from Alcatraz or what!!.
