Zuheros

A road trip today to the province of Cordoba and specifically to the pueblo of Zuheros.
After a drive of about 150kms (93 miles) in just under two hours on excellent roads (our route here) we arrived at Zuheros and parked in the free car park at the edge of the village.

Our first impression was of a very picturesque, clean and tidy village with lots of floral decorations in a stunning location at the edge of the Sierra Subbetica Natural Park
A well cared for patio.

One of several viewpoints throughout the pueblo.

The Plaza de la Paz.
The Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, built on the site of an ancient mosque.
The Arabic "Castilllo-Palacio" dates back to the 9th century and was rebuilt after the Christian conquest in the 15th century so definitely worth a visit. Entry was 2€, tickets available from the very pleasant young lady in the village museum just across from the Plaza.

Apart from it's history, the castle offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

Looking over the village from the ramparts of the castle and below the very pleasant Plaza de la Paz.

We sat for lunch at the Los Palancos restaurant in the plaza. Their speciality is the preparation and cooking of seasonal local game but I settled for delicious grilled pork with Anne having peppers stuffed with prawns.

This passage in Calle La Hoya links two streets.
The impressive building that houses the Museum of Costumes and Popular Art.

An absolutely beautiful village with very friendly people. Well worth a visit.
We left via a slightly different route, looking to take advantage of the views from the hill overlooking the village. Stunning.
