The rain in Spain.....

Since our last post a week ago, when the sun was shining and all was right with our world, it has rained virtually non stop. In particular, last weekend we were subjected to gale force winds and torrential downpours causing some minor structural damage in the village.
As Anne keeps reminding me...."you promised me I'd always be in shorts and flip flops", so she is not impressed by this weather and even less so with me !!.

Anyway, today we paid a visit to our lovely friends John, Kathie and Amy who live about twenty minutes drive from Olvera in the small village of Los Villalones.
The pictures above are of Olvera from the road to El Gastor at about 6kms distance.

We stopped for a shepherd and his flock to cross the road to the farm.

The rain has turned streams that are normally just a trickle into torrents of muddy water. Good news though for the reservoir levels that desperately need topping up.

The campo (countryside) is lush and green at the moment. Hard to believe that in a couple of months this will be turned brown by the sun.....and Anne can get back to those shorts and flip flops at last !!.

Just a few pics of the stunning views around John, Kathie's and Amy's beautiful house.
As always, we were made to feel very welcome and it was lovely to see everyone again.

Amy kindly cut us a lettuce from the garden before we headed back home.

A viewer has kindly posted a comment that "this is the longest and coldest winter in Olvera for 10 years and is not typical of this area. We continue to have the best winter across Europe and spring will arrive soon".
Un espectador ha fijado amablemente un comentario que "esto es el invierno más largo y más frío en Olvera durante 10 años y no es típico de este área. Seguimos teniendo el mejor invierno a través de Europa y la primavera llegará pronto".
