On another warm, sunny morning, we took a drive, heading for the small village of Montecorto which is located just off the main A-374 Algodonales to Ronda road, about 40 minutes drive from Olvera.
Our route however took us via the small hamlet of Los Villalones, on the El Gastor - Setenil road, turning off onto the MA-488 into the hills and through some beautiful countryside.

The picture above looks back towards Los Villalones and pictured right is the view of Olvera.

The village of Montecorto, sitting beneath a pine forest.

We arrived about 11am and parked in the main street by this pretty water feature.

The very pretty Iglesia de Montecorto.

Just outside of the entrance to the church were these ornamental bells surrounded by flowers and shrubs.

The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), one of the smallest but prettiest that we have seen on our travels.

Strolling around the narrow streets, it was clear that the residents take pride in where they live. Many of the houses were decorated with flowers and lovely ceramics.

We came across a small square, the Plaza de la Ermita, where there were a couple of cafés. We stopped at one for a drink before continuing our exploration.

This ceramic plaque was one of several throughout the village dedicated to the Virgin del Carmen, a significant religious patron of the village.

A nice feature of the village are the water channels and water features in the streets.
