Concurso-Exposición de Canaricultura

The 9th Exhibition of Canary Culture is taking place in Olvera this week. It had been well advertised throughout town but it took a while for us to find the actual venue, which was not mentioned on the posters.

After enquiring at the Ayuntamiento, we went along to the exhibition being held in a building next to the Telefonica antenna tower.

There were many varieties of birds on show in a myriad of different colours, quite a few with prize labels attached.

The trophies available to the winners, placed upon the regional flag of Andalucia.

Children in the local schools had been encouraged to get involved and submit their drawings and paintings about the show. These were on display in the entrance hall.

People often ask us if we ever get bored with retirement and what do we do every day to fill the time. The answer is a definate NO.

There is always something to do in Olvera and beyond if you are willing to make the effort and even though we are not great ornithologists we feel it is important to support the local events, of which there are many.
