Casco Antiguo - old town

The Barrio de la Villa, or old neighbourhood, is the oldest part of Olvera that lies within or just outside of the old castle walls.
This is one of my favourite parts of town. Not only for the history of the area but the fantastic views it offers.
The view over Olvera towards the village of El Gastor in the distance.
One of the old castle towers can be seen on the left side of the picture.

Plaza Torre del Pan.

With a little imagination, cast your mind back to the middle ages. Beggars on the streets, merchants plying their wares, mules and donkey's carrying goods up to the castle. These narrow streets and alleyways have many a story to tell, I'm sure.

Looking towards Pruna and it's castle, with one of the remaining towers of Olvera castle on the right of the picture.

Calle Cilla, a small street just below the castle.

Looking across the Plaza de la Iglesia at the top of town towards the "Casa de la Cilla" where behind the tree the town museum and tourist office are located.
