Pure self indulgence today I'm afraid. After filling the water bottles at the cortijo just outside of Olvera, I diverted off towards the village of Torre Alhaquime. The pull of the poppy field was too much to resist.
I parked the car just outside the village and just took picture after picture of the poppies. How I envy the owners of the house adjacent to the meadow who wake up each morning and look out upon this beautiful sight.....if only for a few short weeks of the year.
Within a couple of weeks the wild flowers will have gone over and the fields will have reverted back to their agricultural use. Really lovely to have seen them though.Now, where are those sunflowers..........!!

hi there! well thanks for cheering us up with those wonderfull pics of the poppies!! so needed as we are having the worst weather for the middle of may, still needing the central heating on....ooh those bills! i now have a lovely poppy filled screen on the desktop... not long now though, the dog seems quite good, so fingers and toes crossed! no doubt we will have a heatwave here while we are there.. but hey thats life!
