Christmas and New Year events


The Ayuntamiento have today published a schedule of Christmas and New Year events that may be of interest to both residents and visitors alike.
As always, please check the Ayuntamiento website here for accuracy as sometimes a little may be lost in translation.
From Thursday, December 16th. Various organisations from Olvera (AFA Unidos, Taomi, Senior citizens, schools, etc.) will be putting up Christmas decorations at different locations throughout town.
Monday, December 20th at 19.30 in the Casa de la Cultura. Judgement and awards of the 3rd Firefly contest.
At 20.30, also in the Casa de la Cultura, the judgement and awards for the Nativity scene competition.
Tuesday, December 21st at 11.30am on the Fairground, the XXV Cross of Christmas.
Thursday, December 23rd. A programme entitled "A child, a book" takes place at schools throughout town.
From December 23rd through to January 5th, between 11.00 and 13.00 in the Library of the Casa de la Cultura. Development of bookmarks and Christmas cards.
Tuesday, December 28th at 12.00 in the Library of the Casa de la Cultura. Puppet Theatre: "Rapunzel and the costume of the Emperor".
Thursday, December 30th at 15.30 in the "Pabellón de festejos". (Not sure where this is located but if someone could let me know as it sounds like fun). Great children's party, bouncy castles, face painting, balloon twisting, karaoke, choreography of the Ugly Duckling, go-kart tracks and several other workshops.
Thursday, December 30th at 21.00 in the Casa de la Cultura, The Taspunte Theatre and Chiveca present "The Comedy Club".
Sunday, January 2nd at 12.00 in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The visit of the Royal Postman to collect letters for the Three Kings.
Wednesday, January 5th at 17.00, starting from the Industrial Estate. The Cavalcade of Kings. Bring your brolly to catch the sweets and presents!!.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our family and friends a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy, Peaceful and hopefully Prosperous New Year.
To all the lovely people here in Olvera, who have made us feel so welcome, and the many, many others around the world who kindly take the time to look at our blog, thank you for your kind comments and messages of support over the last year.
