This is Socks, so named by Anne because of her distinctive white paws and unfortunately one of the stray dogs in Olvera.
Anne has become quite attached to her and would love to bring her home to live but Peppie, our dog, will not accept another dog in the house.....or perhaps that means me, being the hard, uncaring, inhumane, unfeeling ogre that I am!!.
Anne and I have discussed rescuing another dog on many occasions and agreed (I think) that when Peppie passes on we would have a break for a while to allow us to travel further afield and explore other parts of Spain, such as Cordoba, Seville, Granada and beyond, where we could have an overnight stay or longer without the need to get back home.
It doesn't make it any easier when you come across a lovely dog like Socks.
Every day Anne seeks her out in her usual place and puts some dried food down for her and occasionally she comes down our street to be fed and watered.
She is so timid and would make a lovely pet so if anyone reading this can find it in their heart to give a lovely dog a home, please get in touch.
