Earth tremor !!!

Did the earth move for you this morning??. Well, it certainly did for us.

At just gone six we were woken by a rumbling noise. Then the bed started shaking, the furniture and windows were rattling like mad and the light fitting was swinging wildly.

I jumped out of bed and the whole house was vibrating and poor Peppie was trembling and wondering what was happening.....so were we!!

The first shock lasted only about 10 to 15 seconds but it felt much longer. A small aftershock came a couple of minutes later. Scary!!!

At 9.30 we went to the Pensioners Centre for breakfast and amazingly José and Carmen, who look after the catering, didn't feel or hear a thing. After breakfast we walked down to the Plaza de Andalucia.
These guys were in the square doing some filming and came up to us to ask if we had felt the quake and would we mind doing an interview.

We explained that our spanish was very limited but they didn't seem to mind so hence we may embarrassingly appear later today on the spanish TV channel CanalSur2, attempting to explain what happened.

After our interview we were joined by a friend Ursula who was passing by and was really excited by the event, advising us that the quake measured 4.8 on the Richter Scale. Apparently the epicentre was about 25kms (15 miles)northwest of Olvera towards Moron de la Frontera.
Now where did I pack that tent............!!
