Post updated due to new information provided by the organiser's blog regarding the "Painting on the streets" competition.
The Town Hall have just published the fun schedule of events taking place in Olvera during June. (See the official Town Hall website here).
Throughout the month many bars and restaurants (see poster below) will be offering a delicious selection of tapas at equally delicious prices, a tapa and drink for 2€, and local hotels (Sierra y Cal, Estación de Olvera, Fuente del Pino and Camping Pueblo Blanco) are also offering a special price of 30€ per night for a double room during the event.
Unfortunately, the colours of the official poster above are quite vivid and it doesn't really lend itself to reproduction. So as best as I can it reads as follows:
Friday 31st May, 1st and 2nd June. A Medieval Market with stalls, workshops and street theatre in the Plaza de Andalucia.
Sunday 2nd June is when the "Corpus Christi" festival takes place. Many of the streets in the old town are decorated by the residents with flowers, greenery and bunting and beautifully decorated and constructed altars are on show for all to see and admire.
Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June at the Fairground Pavilion. Stalls displaying food and drink, clothing, jewellery, books, electronics and much, much more. During the evenings there are performances of music and dancing. (See the official Town Hall website here) .
Sunday 16th June at 19.00hrs. In concert at the Fairground Pavilion with Manuel Cribaño, Anaraida Sánchez and Jesús González.
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June."Multiaventura Urbana". An organised walk around Olvera?
Thursday 27th and Friday 28th June. Workshops and demonstrations by professional artists in oils, acrylics and watercolours. Not sure of the location although it would seem likely to be at the "Ocio Alternativo" (Alternative Space) at the entrance to the Industrial Estate on the edge of town.
Saturday 29th June. Painting on the streets (see the organiser's blog link here). Artists from all over Spain will set up at various points within Olvera and the campo to produce fabulous works of art within a specified time period. (See the link here showing last year's entries).
