Semana Santa 2012 Schedule

Listed below is the schedule of Processions taking place during Semana Santa (Holy Week) that may be of interest to both residents and visitors alike who are intending to see one of the most special events in the Olvera calendar.

Sunday 1st April at 10.30hrs in the Patio de La Cilla (next to the castle). A blessing of the palms and olive branches followed by a short procession to the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial.

Monday 2nd April at 20.00hrs starting at the Iglesia del Socorro. The "Procesión del Cristo del Cautivo". Route: Plaza del Socorro, Salada, Socorro, Sevilla, Plaza Arias, Tafetanes, Vieja, Pilar, Plaza Alfarería, Almería, Nueva, Victoria, Llana, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Azuaga, Partida, San Ildefonso, Salada and Plaza del Socorro.

Tuesday 3rd April at 23.00hrs. The silent "Procesión de la Penitencia". Departing from the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial in the Plaza de la Iglesia, then Calzada, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Azuaga, Partida, Pozo, Maestro Amado, Cervantes, Los Cantillos, Llana, ending at the Iglesia de la Victoria.

Wednesday 4th April at 20.00hrs. The "Procesión Cristo del Amor" departing from the Residencia Escolar Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios (rear of the Guardia Civil building). Route: Ramón y Cajal, Avda. Manuel de Falla, Fuente Nueva, Plaza de la Concordia, Avenida Julián Besteiro, Avda. Nuestra Sra. de Los Remedios, Barriada Coronación, Avenida Julián Besteiro, Plaza de la

Concordia, Fuente Nueva, Avenida Manuel de Falla, Ramón and Cajal, returning to the Residencia Escolar Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios.

Thursday 5th April at 06.00hrs. The "Procesión de Jesús Nazareno y Ntra. Sra. de los Dolores" starting from the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial. Route: Plaza de la Iglesia, Calzada, Maestro Amado, Pulido, Carmona, Vieja, Pilar, Plaza Alfarería, Vereda Ancha, Fuente Nueva, Plaza de la Concordia, Calvario, Victoria, Llana, and Pico, returning to the Casa Hermandad in Calle Pico at approximately 13.00hrs.

Thursday 5th April at 20.30hrs departing from the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial. The "Procesión del Santisimo Cristo de la Vera-Cruz y María Santísima de la Esperanza". Route: Plaza de la Iglesia, Calzada, Llana, Victoria, Calvario, El Gastor, Encarnación, Fuente Nueva, Plaza de la Concordia, Calvario, Victoria, Llana, Calzada, returning to the Plaza de la Iglesia.

Friday 6th April at 19.00hrs departing from the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial. The "Procesión del Santo Entierro de Nuestro Sr. Jesucristo Yacente y María Santísima de la Soledad". Route: Plaza de la Iglesia, Calzada, Llana, Pico, Mercado, Calvario, El Gastor, Encarnación, Fuente Nueva, Plaza de la Concordia, Calvario, Victoria, Llana, Calzada , returning to the Plaza de la Iglesia.
