Siesta time

Mid afternoon, 35°C, quite hot and very quiet as it normally is at this time of day, trying to keep to the shade as we take Calcetines for a walk.

Here, looking down Calle Tafetanes.

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación seen from Calle Carmona.

The castle viewed from Calle Peñon.

Calle José Chico.

Calle Guarino left and José Chico to the right.

The "Monumento al Sagrado Corazón" viewed from a comfortable seat in the Plaza de Andalucia.

A deserted Calle Llana.

The Ayuntamiento as seen through the arch leading into the Plaza.

A final view of the castle before the downhill stretch home.

A few Feria pics

A few pictures of scenes from the Feria taken last night and the night before.

Anne, dressed for the occasion and looking stunning.

Two lovely young ladies happy to pose.

Our friend Sue, in a beautiful traditional dress.

Another stunning young woman in a beautiful dress.

The lights in the Caseta Municipal.

"Nuevos Aires" performing on stage last night.

Of the forty eight Casetas erected on the fairground, only five were open to the public, the rest were private. Pictured here is the Caseta "24 Horas", which as the name suggests is open all day and night.

Feria de Ganado

A part of the "Feria" experience, although something that we've not experienced before, is the livestock market.

It came to my attention when while walking Calcetines this morning, I saw this rider and horses on Calle Bellavista, presumably heading to the feria ground.

The traditional entrance gate to the feria ground, normally illuminated at night.

There was quite a bit of animated bartering going on for the wares on sale at this stall. Bells for cows or goats I think.

The castle and Church watch over all that happens in Olvera, as they have done for centuries.

Some of the lovely horses up for sale.

A busy scene with plenty of buyers and admirers about.

"I love you Doris and I'll never leave you. We go together or not at all".

A friend and his companions asked if Calcetines was for sale and Anne jokingly said yes. He quickly dug his hand into his pocket but there's not enough money in the world that would persuade us to part with her.

I think this was the donkey leading the horses I saw earlier this morning.

Nick and Claire

It's been a real pleasure this week to have my godson Nick and his lovely girlfriend Claire visit us here in Olvera.

In addition to the mentions in previous posts, here are a few more pics of us enjoying ourselves. Here, enjoying drinks prior to roast chicken at Asador Carmina.

Delicious tapas at Bodeguita Juanito Gómez.

Bar Valentinos.

Zahara de la Sierra here and below.

At the fair, the night before the official opening of this years Feria. Hopefully, it won't be too long before they return to Olvera.
