Wet, wet, wet

After a week of what seems like constant rain at last there is a glimmer of hope that over the next few days some sunny weather will return.

But at the moment the rain continues. Here and below, looking into the gloom that surrounds us.

Friends have told us that not unsurprisingly the Olvera to El Gastor road, probably one of many, is closed due to subsidence caused by the volume of rain.

A hint of blue

After two days and nights of near constant rain, it was nice to have a wander this afternoon on a drying day with hints of blue sky.

 17.8°C, warm and quite breezy.

Back to the norm

A wander out this morning, the first time for a while, and the weather and temperatures have returned to a more seasonal norm at about 11°C.

Here, looking down Calle Llana.

Umbrellas up for a light drizzle.

Winter wonderland

Typically, as soon as an apology is issued for no recent blog posts and in anticipation of a long delay in the return of our internet connection, what happens.....we are re-connected within two hours!!. So with normal service resumed we are able to bring some unique pictures of the 10cms of snow that fell on Andalucia Day (February 28th) showing the beautiful countryside around us in a completely different light.
It was quite a sight as Anne called me up to the terrace early in the morning, not quite believing her eyes. Our friend and builder Antonio said later that he hadn't seen this much snow in Olvera in over  fifteen years or more.
The view down Calle Salada.

The early rising sun just catching the hills in the valley's to the west.

"You have got to be kidding me. I'm not walking on that stuff". A reluctant Calcetines.

Within a couple of hours the thaw had begun. Not before a few snowball fights though.
Our neighbours lovely daughter and friend, excited and happy to collect any remaining snow in a plastic bag to have some fun with.

Blog problems

Our apologies to all our readers for the lack of recent posts. A combination of illness, builders in the house and now massive internet connection problems has meant we have been unable to update our blog. We hope that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible but we anticipate that it will not be until perhaps next week.
Please check in regularly though as I cannot wait to publish some unique pictures of Olvera and surrounding countryside that we are unlikely to see again for many years to come.
Many thanks to our friends Ray and Geraldine for allowing me to use their internet connection supported by a different service provider.
Best wishes to all,
Alan and Anne
