Un buen dia

A good day. The sunny, warm weather continues as we went for a stroll this afternoon with temperatures still in the mid teens.

Looking up to the castle and Church from Calle Hondon.
A slightly distorted view of Calle Vieja.

The recently created park and play area, here and below, on Vereda Ancha

The Plaza de la Concordia.

You're always assured of a noisy welcome from the residents when you pass by this garden on Calle Bellavista.

El Belen de Los Remedios

A visit this morning to the Ermita de Los Remedios, located about 2kms outside of Olvera. It is traditional at this time of year for Nativity Scenes (Belen's) to be created and displayed in houses, shop windows and other locations but none is more spectacular than the Belen in the patio area of Los Remedios.

This years creation was stunning in its beauty and in the workmanship and hard work that been put into creating it.

The view from the Ermita to Olvera on a windy but quite warm day.

Sunrise again.....

.....well not quite, more like the rising sun, but the light on our walk at just after 8.30am this morning, particularly as it struck the castle, was a bit special.
Looking west towards the Peñon de Zaframagón and the early morning mists shrouding the valleys.

El Gordo - "The Fat One"

Sadly, we were not lucky in this year's national Christmas lottery (known as "El Gordo), despite prize money on offer of €2.52 billion (£2.09 billion) in what is recognised as the world's richest lottery draw. However, one lucky town, Grañén in north-eastern Spain, whose residents bought all 1,800 winning tickets with the number 58268, are now celebrating an incredible payout of €720 million (£599 million). Fantastic for them and what a Christmas they'll all have.
For us, well never mind, there's always next year.

Sunrise and sunset

Sunrise and sunset. This view taken at just after 9am this morning as the sun was rising over Olvera and below......
......the same view as the sun was setting at just after six this evening after another beautiful day, when the thermometer on our terrace at 2pm showed an unbelievable 32°C in full sun.
My lovely audience this evening.

Views from the park

A wander into the park today from the Plaza de Andalucia and pleasant to see that a lot of the overgrown ivy had been removed, rock exposed and new plants in the many beds.

The water feature has been cleaned and possibly restocked.

The views from the top are as always stunning, here looking down upon the fairground and the Instituto de Zaframagón (Senior and 6th form UK equivalent school) in the centre picture. Beyond, the low lying smoke from the many olive wood fires in the campo.
Looking south towards the lovely pueblo of El Gastor.

Ready to welcome 2012.
The view to the north.
We're still enjoying lovely, sunny days with the temperature today at about 11°C. Not bad for the time of year though.

Visitors at the top of the castle, enjoying the best views of Olvera and beyond.
Looking down upon the recently installed children's play area on Vereda Ancha.
